About Us

Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) started with Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust as the first self-financing Engineering College in Tamil Nadu in 1984 by Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan. The trust then established Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital in 1989. Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital was first recognized as a Deemed to be University by MHRD in July 2002, under section 3 of UGC Act 1956 and placed under the purview of new trust of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER). The Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and other institutions (below) was then brought under the ambit of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER).

Overview

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and practice of medicine for the benefit of society. SLIMS was born in the year 2006 with a vision to establish a multispecialty hospital in Agaram Village of Puducherry, Union territory of India, where in particular the poor could receive free advanced medical care in an atmosphere of love and compassion. Here we are providing highest standards of medical treatment with help of dedicated team of physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

I. ADMISSION CRITERIA
The Minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31 st December of the year in which admission is sought. The maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years.

2. MINIMUM EDUCATION 

  • A candidate should have passed in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology(PCB) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum Of 45 % marks taken together in PCB at the Qualifying Examination (10, +2)
  • Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having science subjects and English only.
  • A candidate belonging to SC/ST or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in Qualifying Examination is 40 % instead of 45 % as stated above.
  • English is a compulsory subject in 10 & +2 for being eligible for admission To B.Sc. Nursing.
    • CANDIDATE SHALL BE MEDICALLY FIT.
    • CANDIDATE SHALL BE ADMITTED ONCE IN A YEAR.
    • ENTRANCE/SELECTION TEST:
      • Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by university or component authority.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for entrance test shall be 50 % marks

Training Programme on Mental Health and Substance use Disorders

SRI LAKSHMI NARAYANA COLLEGE OF NURSING (Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Science), campus, Puducherry, has participated in training programme on “Mental Health and Substance use Disorders,” conducted by National Mental Health Programme. Organized by Government of Puducherry which was conducted on 23.06.2023. In this, this students and faculties took active participation in various events such as poster competition, rally, debate and Hand painting campaign against substance abuse.

Mr.N.Ajay from 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing won third prize in poster competition and also cash prize which was honoured from Dr.K.Balan Ponmani Stephen, HOD and Nodal Officer, NMHP, Govt of Puducherry. Heartfelt gratitude to our management and entire supporting team of SLIMS, Puducherry.

Inauguration Programme of 4th Batch of B.Sc. Nursing

On Behalf Of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute Of Medical Science, Under The Aegis Of Dr.S.Jagathratchagan, Founder, Chairman, BIHER, Dr.J.Sundeep Anand, President, BIHER, Sri Lakshmi Narayana College of Nursing has organized the Inauguration Programme of 4th Batch of Bsc Nursing on 04.09.2023 Between 9.00- 10.30 Am. The Function Was Inaugurated By Dr. G. Jayalakshmi, Dean, SLIMS, Dr. K.Balagurunathan, Dean,(Academic), SLIMS, Dr, Asayas Bosco Chandra Kumar, Medical Superintendent, SLIMS. Followed by the prayer song, welcome address was given by Dr.S. Rajalakshmi, Principal, SLNCON. All the Dignitaries were honored with Shawl and Bouquet. Presidential Address was given by G. Jayalakshmi, Dean, SLIMS & Inaugural Address was given by Dr. K.Balagurunathan, Dean, (Academic), SLIMS. They highlighted the Importance and Scope of Nursing and its Personnel’s. After the presidential address, students were awarded with Best Academic Performance Award, Clinical Performance Award and 100 % of Attendance Award. It enriches and strengthens the skills of the students. It Gives a Good Motivation and Support among all the Students. Our Vision, Mission, Philosophy of the College was Enlightened by Mrs.P.Amudhavalli, Professor, SLNCON. Doubts of the Parents were clarified. They came to know about the institutional policies and protocols. The programme is mainly to welcome the upcoming I year students. This programme brings collaboration among the parents and the students in all the endeavors. Students are instructed about the college, hostel rules and regulations and about the profession. All the Parents and the Students were actively Participated and made the Function as a special one. Finally Vote of thanks was given by Mrs.K.Visithra,Vice Principal,Slncon. The programme got concluded with national anthem followed by that high tea was severed.

World Heart Day

On behalf of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, under the ageis of Dr. S. Jagathrakshagan, founder and chairman, BIHER, & Dr. J. Sundeep Anand, President, BIHER, Sri Lakshmi Narayana College of Nursing has celebrated the World Heart Day on 29.09.2023. Dr.G.Jayalakshmi, Dean,SLIMS, Dr.K.Balagurunathan, Dean (Academic), SLIMS were invited as chief guest & honored the event. Dr.Asayas bosco Chandra Kumar MS, Dr.Suganth, Cardiologist, SLIMS were jointly inaugurated the awareness stalls. Dr. S. Rajalakshmi, Principal, SLNCON welcomed the gatherings. The entire awareness activities of the programme were developed based on the theme 2023 “Use Heart, Know Heart”. Health Awareness stall were arranged from the students of Sri Lakshmi Narayana College of Nursing on the topic of risk of heart diseases, ways to maintain the healthy heart, management of heart disease and showed the demonstration on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. People were checked their Blood Pressure and Body Mass Index to rule out the high risk cases. It mainly helps the public to get insight about the risk of heart disease and on steps to be followed while performing CPR. Common public and the patient were visited the stall & came to aware about the early identification and warning signs of heart diseases. They were actively participated and performed the demonstration of CPR enthusiastically. The entire awareness stall was highly benefited by the public & they were paid their complete attention on performing the demonstration of CPR. The day was successfully ended & many people were gained awareness regarding the risk of heart disease & how to maintain a healthy life style in order to prevent cardiac diseases. More than 100 populations were benefited and gained awareness about the risk of heart diseases and how to stay healthy. Followed by the same day, guest lecture programme was conducted. Dr. Sridevi, Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, were invited as a chief guest for the event. All the three batches of BSc nursing students were participated and gained the beneficence.

World Diabetes Day

On behalf of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Sri Lakshmi Narayana College of Nursing has organized ‘WORLD DIABETES DAY’ on 22.11.2023 between 9am to 1pm. Under the ageis of Dr. Jagathratchagan, founder, chairman, BIHER, Dr. Sundeep Anand, President, BIHER this Programme was campaigned. The Programme was inaugurated by Dr.G.Jayalakshmi, Dean, SLIMS, Dr.K.Balagurunathan, Dean, (Academic) SLIMS, Dr.Asayas Bosco Chandra Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Dr.Kalasree, Deputy Medical Superintendent, SLIMS, Dr.Aravind, HOD, Department of Medicine. Awareness stalls were arranged at the reception area by B.Sc. Nursing Students. Awareness Stalls were arranged regarding causes of diabetes, signs & symptoms of diabetes, diagnostic evaluation and its management of diabetes mellitus. General public and patients who visited the OPD were visited the awareness stall and gained the beneficence. Students were monitored the blood pressure, blood glucose, VPT test to rule out the high risk cases. High risk cases were adviced them to follow the healthy life style practices and regular follow ups. Students were high lightened the importance of food habits and behavioral modifications. Many people were actively participated and gained the beneficence regarding the risk factors of diabetes. This awareness stall is mainly to enhance the promotion of health of the people and to change their life style modifications. The Programme was found to be highly successful.

World Health Day Celebration

The year 2024 marks the 76th anniversary of WHO and as a part of celebration, WHO has choosen “ My Health, My Right” as a theme which focuses on the fundamental human rights access to quality health care, education and information.

World Health Day celebration was held on 13.04.2024. The Programme was inaugurated at 10am by Dr.G.Jayalakshmi, Dean, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute Medical Sciences, Dr.Assayas Bosco chandrakumar, Medical Superintendent, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute Medical Sciences, Dr.Manoharan, Department of Pathology, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute Medical Sciences.

On this event, students have arranged Health awareness stall at OPD blocks of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute Medical Sciences. B.Sc nursing III year students took an active participation in organizing the programme.They have prepared banners, charts of the various topics regarding follow up care for Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease, Healthy Diet and Healthy Life style modifications, Exercises. Students have arranged screening stall for monitoring Blood pressure, Height and Weight checking. General public and patients were actively participated in all the stalls and screening.

People have gained knowledge regarding the lifestyle modifications, follow up care and the importance was given to highlight the world Health Day theme of “ My Health, My Right” which covers all components like physical health, psychological health, social, spiritual and economical and was projected through a Health Pyramid.

Totally 110 peoples were benefited by the health awareness Programme. The guest lecture was conducted by Sri Lakshmi Narayana College of Nursing between 2 to 4pm where Dr. P. Tamilselvi, Principal of Mailam Nursing College was invited as guest speaker and presented on theme “My Health, My Right”

The Programme was very useful to the general public and the Programme ended at 4 pm. Basing on theme, the poster competition was conducted where more than 20 participants did exclusive posters basing on theme. The posters were evaluated by Dr.Manoharan, Department of Pathology, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute Medical Sciences. The prize distribution was done for the first 3 students.
